the heart of life is good.

music inspires me. it inspires my work.
my moods. my life.
i am huge into lyrics.
sometimes i'm in the mood
for sad. heartbreaking.
sometimes happy, cheery,
sometimes, deep, sometimes light.
always something different.
when something catches my ear,
i play it
over
and
over
again.

a few weeks ago
i started listening to
john mayer's music again
{i've always been a fan,
since back in the
'boy next door' years}
seems to get
replayed
the most.
i just really love it.
it made me cry every day last week.
seriously, every day.
i needed it. it was really good.
from, the heart of life is good.

"I hate to see you cry
laying there in that position
there's things you need to hear
so turn off your tears and listen

pain throws you heart to the ground
love turns the whole thing around
no, it won't all go the way, it should
but I know the heart of life is good..."

now, i'm feeling so much better,
totally inspired
and absolutely happy, happy.
so, now, i'm listening to
ingrid michaelson.
so many sweet songs
and lyrics.
if you haven't heard her, take a listen...
{side note: her brother is my son's substitute high school math teacher, mr. michaelson}.

i also love this video
from nevershoutnever.
such a great message.
old or new.
i love to listen.

who or what bands
are you
currently listening to
...and why?

are you more
into the
sound of the music
or what is being said?

any new music
you'd like to share?

  2. Firefall, how funny. i went and took a listen. seriously, i didn't know the name of the band, but i know all those songs. those are old songs, like 30 years old. and yes, they are classic romantic. just remember i love you...

  3. i love john mayer. room for squares was my soundtrack for my semester in london. i listened to it while walking the streets + exploring and to lull my sleep (also to block out the obnoxious spoken word poetry my roommate listened to in order to go to sleep). battle studies is on constant play in my room here in cambodia. his voice gets me.

  4. hi Leigh, thanks for remembering my birthday, you're sooo sweet.

i have all of john's cd's as well. just got battle studies for christmas. he's an awesome song writer. that's cool to think that you're listening to him in cambodia, while i'm here listening to him in so cal. music really is universal.

  6. I'm huge into music too--for the same reason...it moves me into, in and thru thing...things I know I need to process and some things I am not even aware of, until the music brings the awareness.

Love your suggestions, and I find so many...lyrics and the sound of certain artist's voices....I even get this from church music, and it helps me get in touch.

I think Happy Birthday is in order today, so happy birthday twitter friend !!

  7. Mmm I love me some Ingrid. I've been listening to her for a few years now and saw her at a small club in Boston before she got big. She is hilarious. I'm really into Motion City Soundtrack right now. Their new album, My Dinosaur Life is fresh. I've been listening to it for 3 weeks straight (that hasn't happened since I got the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack.)

  8. This is one of my favorite John Mayer songs. Great choice! I think acoustic music really brings out emotion.

  9. I love being introduced to new music, thank you for that Kerri! I definitely value the lyrics as well, and when a nice sound is added to that, what a perfect harmony. :)
Here is one of my favorite's ever. I think you may like it. It's by the Innocence Mission and it's called "Bright as Yellow".
